Loved reading this. Curious if you have any thoughts on the impact on the child actors, of doing work with such dark and heavy material (if anyone will do it with thoughtful consideration seems like this would be the group to do so)

I don't have any knowledge about how child actors are affected by dark material in general (other than the fact that Dakota Fanning seems okay).

In one interview about this film, it was stated by the producer that the kids didn't know what the film was about. They were directed how to react, but not told what they were reacting to. (If true, this makes their performance even more impressive.)

A short story was shared about one child who found out the subject of the film when they weren't supposed to. A scene of them crying was included in the film (I don't know which scene), but then the child continued to cry for hours after shooting ended. The staff took greater care from then on to keep the children from finding out.

There are laws on the books about certain protections for child actors (work hours, wages, amenities), but I don't know whether any of these laws pertain to disclosure of that kind of information, or if these laws apply to productions filmed internationally (as Sound of Freedom was).
